Nutrition Counseling
At BHC, physicians counsel all patients on nutrition and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Physicians at BHC educate patients according to their race, gender, and illness on how to eat healthy. Physicians suggest our patients eat:
• Vegetables (With a high concentration on green leafy vegetables)
• Fruits (fruits with high sugar should be eaten in moderation, especially for diabetics)
• Healthy Meats with low fat and high protein (White meat Chicken, Fish, Lean Beef, and Lean Pork)
• Dairy products with low fat
• Drinking plenty of water or beverages with little or no sugar
Our physicians recommend avoiding:
• Carbohydrates (Carbs made from wheat instead of flour is recommended)
• Fried foods
• Unhealthy Meats (Heavy intake of fatty pork, beef, or chicken can lead to serious health problems related to the heart)
• Dairy products with high fat content such as cheeses, whole milk, ice cream should always be eaten in moderation
• Drinks with a high sugar content
• Alcohol and tobacco usage due to severe health risks related to both
