Outreach Services
BHC recognizes the importance of educating the community about our services. Our outreach workers take to the streets of Birmingham and public housing communities to educate individuals about our health care access, as well as provide prevention education on HIV/AIDS and other communicable diseases. Street outreach teams also provide medical care, medications, ad warm clothing and blankets to at-risk and homeless persons on the streets and in local shelters. This allows BHC to build a connection with these individuals in hopes that they will take advantage of our health care services, substance abuse programs, and case management services.
Other outreach efforts include our Asian and Latino outreach teams. With these two populations continuously growing in the Birmingham Metro Area, BHC feels it necessary to extend our services to these patients as well. Many Latinos and Asians struggle with health care due to language barriers, but fortunately BHC offers translators for both Asians and Latinos.
